Assam, 1st State To Launch Wage Compensation Scheme For Pregnant Women In Tea Gardens

Assam Government has become the first Indian state to offer a Wage Compensation Scheme for pregnant women working in the tea gardens of the state. The scheme will be launched by Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal in Guwahati. The announcement was made by the state’s Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. 
Under the scheme, an amount of Rs 12,000 will be given to the pregnant women so that they can take care of themselves and the unborn baby. The compensation of wages to pregnant women will be given in 4 instalments – Rs 2,000 in the first trimester, Rs 4,000 in the second trimester, Rs 3,000 for institutional delivery and Rs 3,000 for registration of the child’s birth.

International Day of Older Persons: 1 October

The International Day of Older Persons is observed on October 1 each year to recognize the contributions of older persons and to examine issues that affect their lives. The theme for the 2018 celebration is “Celebrating Older Human Rights champions”.
On December 14, 1990, the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish October 1 as the International Day of Older Persons.  The day was observed for the first time on October 1, 1991. The day is celebrated by raising awareness about issues affecting the elderly, such as senescence and elder abuse.

PM Modi Inaugurates Various Projects in Gujarat: Complete Highlights

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated various projects in Gujarat. He inaugurated modern food processing facilities, including Amul’s ultra-modern Chocolate Plant in Anand. Development projects worth Rs. 1100 crore have either been inaugurated or their foundation stones have been laid. 
These projects are associated with the dairy, food processing, agriculture and energy sectors. The Various Projects launched/Inaugurated are as follows: 
1. PM was in Anand to inaugurate a state-of-the-art Amul chocolate plant set up with an investment of about Rs. 190 crore. 
2. PM launched Mujkuva Solar Energy Cooperative Group created with the assistance of the National Dairy development Board. 
3. PM also inaugurated a take-home ration plant with production capacity of 600 tonnes per day and a ready-to use therapeutic food plant with monthly capacity of 600 tonnes along with the incubation center cum center of excellence in food processing for promoting entrepreneurs and start ups.
4. PM inaugurated the Mahatma Gandhi Museum in Rajkot. 
5. PM inaugurated the Mundra LNG terminal, the Anjar-Mundra Pipeline Project and the Palanpur-Pali-Barmer pipeline project, at Anjar.

Yuvraj Wadhwani lifts Asian Junior Squash title


Yuvraj Wadhwani has won the 25th Asian junior individual squash championship title. He defeated Anas Ali Shah of Pakistan by 13-11, 11-5, 6-11, 12-10 in the final in Chennai. Yuvraj has become the second Indian to win the Under-13 title after Veer Chotrani, who had won the title in 2014 in Iran. In the Under15 section, Arnav Sareen settled for the runner-up spot. The Pune boy lost to Mohammad Hamza Khan of Pakistan in the final.

India came out of the championship with a gold, a silver and four bronze medals. The bronze medals came in the other age categories through Kavya Bansal, Tiana Parasrampuria, Sanya Vats and Tushar Shahani.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the state-of-the-art chocolate plant of Amul dairy set up with an investment of about 190 crore rupees at Mogar village in Anand district of Gujarat. 

Mr Modi also inaugurated a take-home ration plant of 600 tonnes per day and a ready-to-use therapeutic food plant with monthly capacity of 600 tonnes along with the incubation center cum center of excellence in food processing for promoting entrepreneurs and startup.

RBI Bars Bandhan Bank From Opening New Branches

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) barred Bandhan Bank from opening new branches and also ordered freezing of the bank’s CEO salary over failure to stick to shareholding rules. 
The Bank was not able to bring down the shareholding of Non-Operative Financial Holding Company (NOFHC) to 40% as required under the licensing condition, general permission to open new branches stands withdrawn.

Indian Railways, Google Arts Launch ‘Rail Heritage Digitisation Project’

Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal launched the ‘Rail Heritage Digitisation Project’ of Indian Railways in collaboration with Google Arts and Culture Association. The Minister launched the project through video conferencing in Delhi. 
The first-of-its-kind project aims to showcase India’s rail heritage to the national and international audience in an online story-telling platform. It is the largest cultural heritage digitisation project not only in India but possibly in the entire Asia Pacific Region.

PM Inaugurates Conference On Academic Leadership on Education for Resurgence

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Conference on Academic Leadership on Education for Resurgence in New Delhi in which the Vice-Chancellors, Directors from more than 350 universities participated. 
The theme of the conference is to deliberate on challenges facing the Indian education system and to work out a plan for a paradigm shift both in terms of achieving academic outcomes and also in the regulation of education. The conference will be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and HRD minister Prakash Javadekar.
